Week 5

10th December 2015

It was a week of contrasts this week with the judges either loving or hating the contestants – they seem to be getting harder to please the further into the competition we go but the costumes never fail to impress regardless!

With two new couples at the top of the leader board the competition is rising and getting more intense by the week.

Jay had a fantastic review from the judges for “the best male arms”, Anita delivered a “clean and crisp” tango with some incredible hair and make-up and Georgia May Foot knocked it out of the park with her “amazing” performance!

All of these performances were enhanced with their beautiful costumes. Vicky Gill does a truly fantastic job capturing the feel of every dance and character.

We’ll let you in on the tricks of the trade with fabric combinations, colour choices, designs and shapes galore – with links to purchase the elements used, let us give you inspiration for your next dress!

As worn by Georgia May Foote

Dancing the cheeky salsa, Georgia May Foot was dressed in a very alternative colour of Zircon green.

On a very simple Lycra leotard base with a low ‘v’ back and spaghetti straps, this dress is finished with a Mesh panelled mini skirt and slits on the seams to show off her fabulous legs.

Great for movement also, this skirt had the perfect weight to it due to the stoning.

The dress if effectively covered in ss20 Rhinestones in Blue Zircon ab and Zircon AB creating very subtle unconventional block shapes throughout.

A wonderful example of “less is more” with its understated decoration; this dress was perfect for Georgia.

As worn by Anita Rani

Anita’s dramatic tango had the whole package last Saturday.

Her dress was full of drama, capturing the feel of the dance and finished off perfectly with her striking hair and make-up.

Based on a black Crepe leotard the dress was constructed with a Mesh overlay.

With long sleeves and a long skirt, this initially conservative cut is drastically brought to life with the gold and silver Rhinestone detailing in Crystal AB and Crystal Aurum; perfect to create vivid lines against the black.

The Mesh panelled skirt is given tonnes of movement with the mesh godet inserts and the sheer element flaunts a “sexiness” that other ballroom dances don’t require.

A very theatrical and impressive design here from Vicky Gill.
