The quarter finals of Strictly 2016 have come round so quickly! This week we will be featuring two of the glamorous gowns produced at DSI London as seen on the show, Joanne's Ballroom dress and Oxana's Latin dress.
This week Strictly Costume designer Vicky Gill brought us another stunning look using the DSI Vogue burnt out smooth velvet. Last week we saw our vogue burnt-out velvet dance fabric used for Claudia's argentine tango dress. The pattern had been outlined in rhinestones to highlight the sheer sections. This week we see the same fabric, in Purple, was used to give a very different effect. For Joanne's dress the sheer sections were densely packed with rhinestones which really shows off the pattern and the sumptuous sheen of the smooth velvet. To give the desired fullness and movement to the skirt the godets were formed from panels of georgette and satin. The contrast is gorgeous especially when trimmed with DSI Ostrich feather boa at the hem! Rhinestones add magic to the design with the stunning colour shifting Volcano rhinestones along with Ruby and Crystal Heliotrope.
The DSI stripes dance fabric is usually used as a mens latin fabric for mens dance latin shirts. Showing the true versatility of the fabric, it makes a striking choice to elevate a simple silhouette. The stripes are accentuated with precisely applied Light Siam rhinestones. Black jewellery stones down the centre of the dress and the black satin bias binding used to trim the hem add another dimension to the look. The addition of short layered fringe on the skirt gives a playful touch perfect for samba.
