The world of dance always wakes up on the Friday after the International with the wonderful melodies of Ross Mitchell’s musicians ringing in its ears.
One of the best nights in the Ballroom calendar is over for another year but what a night it was. There were a few unexpected results, the usual exciting smattering of Strictly stars and, as always, some wonderful, wonderful dancing.
For the Professionals, it was “business as usual” with Riccardo Cocchi and Yulia Zagoruychenko triumphing in the Latin for the fifth time, while the indomitable Arunas Bizokas and Katusha Demidova returned as nine-time Ballroom champions.
In the Amateur events, last year’s Latin winners Ferdinando Iannaccone and Yulia Musikhina claimed the top prize once more, while first-time International Amateur Ballroom champions Fedor Isaev and Anna Zudilina looked thrilled with their win.
Elsewhere, there was a few unpredictable results among the finalists, but we’re very happy to report that our incredible DSI Elite Performers Igor Reznik and Mariia Polishchuk came third in the Amateur Ballroom with our newest Elite Performer Austin Joson placed sixth in the Amateur Latin with his partner Nino Dzneladze. Congratulations!
If you missed any of last night’s thrilling action, don’t forget that all the data is available to rewatch on DSI TV NOW! Whether you’d like to analyse your own performance or relive the dancing of your favourite competitors, it’s all there, and for the first time the data will remain on the website.
And if you’d like a more permanent reminder of the evening, for the first time DSI TV will be bringing out a pair of International DVDS – one Ballroom, one Latin – which will capture all the action from the final 48 to the very last honour dance and interviews with the winners. Keep an eye on our website for the announcement of its release.
