The WDC celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Open World Championships in Disneyland Resort Paris this year from 8 to 10 December. One of the last big ballroom championships of the year, it was a memorable event for the DSI Elite Performers who made the journey to France.
Concluding a fabulous year, which saw them take the Youth events by storm, Glenn-Richard Boyce and Cäroly Jänes triumphed as winners of the World Youth Under 19 Ballroom Championship.
The super-talented pair also came sixth in the World Under 21 Ballroom Championship and sixth in the World Under 19 Latin event, in which DSI Elite Performer Oliver Beardmore reached the semi-final with his new partner Zoe Cunningham. This was their first World Championships together as a new partnership, which is already looking to be quite a success!
DSI’s Igor Reznik and Mariia Polishchuk came fourth in the World Amateur Ballroom Championship and further successes were won by DSI Elite Performers Stanislav Zelianin and Irina Cherepanova, who were placed third in the Fred Astaire Cup Professional Ballroom, and Elite Performer Gunnar Gunnarsson, who came eighth in the Fred Astaire Cup Professional Latin.
DSI’s newest Elite Performer Tagir Mansurov and his partner, Alexandra Kondrashova, reached the semi-finals in the World Amateur Latin Championship – once again they have cemented their place amongst the world’s best – while DSI Elite Performer Ella Perry and her partner Kristofer Ponomarenko reached the semi-finals in the World Junior Latin Championship. Congratulations to all of you!
