Dancing with the Stars Ireland is back

Dancing with the Stars Ireland is back on RTÉ One to brighten the long winter evenings! Presented by Jennifer Zamparelli and Nicky Byrne, this series will run for 12 weeks from Sunday 6th January 2019 until the grand finale on 24th March 2019 and, once again, DSI London is thrilled to be providing the stunning costumes.

Collaborating closely with the creative director, former Strictly Come Dancing champion Darren Bennett, our industrious team are working busily to provide the spectacular dresses for each live show.

“Dancing with the Stars has moved on so much – it’s not just about the dance anymore,” explains Darren. “It’s about the costumes, it’s about the lighting, it’s about the graphics. It’s making sure all these elements tie together and work harmoniously,”

Darren works closely with the creative team and once the music and dance style has been chosen he travels to DSI and looks at the available costumes at our London headquarters and builds up a portfolio of dresses for each week.

“I make sure each professional and celebrity has a costume that suits them in style as well as portraying what they’re trying to achieve in the dance on the night. It’s a matter of creating mood-boards each week so you’ve got a costume of varying colour and design and you don’t overlap” he explains. “Every single number has to be different and have a unique story.”

This year’s line-up of 11 celebrities, each hoping to claim the much-coveted glitter ball trophy, are: Peter Stringer, Cliona Hagan, Demi Isaac Oviawe, Clelia Murphy, Mairead Ronan, Johnny Ward, Eilish O’Carroll, Denis Bastick, Darren Kennedy, Fred Cooke and Holly Carpenter.

Brian Redmond, Loraine Barry and Julian Benson have returned to the judging panel and once again the celebrities and their dancers will be scored by the judges and the viewing public at home.
