As Seen on Strictly: Week 7

10th November 2017

Last week saw one of the biggest shock exits in Strictly Come Dancing’s history with one of the favourites to win, Aston Merrygold, leaving the show.

It was an episode of highs and lows, with Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice scoring a perfect 40 for their brilliantly slick tango (for which Craig Revel Horwood bowed at Debbie’s feet in tribute to her impeccable technique), a breakthrough American smooth from Davood Ghadami and Nadiya Bychkova and a paso doble the likes of which we have never seen from Ruth Langsford and Anton Du Beke, including that “unchoreographed” ending.

But the lows included an emotional goodbye to the very talented Aston and Janette, which had us reaching for our sparkly handkerchiefs.

How to cheer ourselves up? Well, as always, there was the creative genius of Vicky Gill and her wardrobe team to enjoy…

Nadiya Bychkova’s American smooth dress was, quite simply, a masterpiece. Vicky Gill used a classically striking combination of cream and black, with a Cream Mesh body and Cream Mesh Satin skirt, showing matt-side.

The exquisite stoning on the bodice of the dress is a work of art, with DSI London’s Ash truly ‘painting’ a floral scene in Jet, Indian Pink, Peridot, Topaz and Crystal AB rhinestones. The black satin belt helped to frame this focal point, as well as highlighting Nadiya’s tiny waist.

Ruth’s Langsford paso doble brought the house down and Vicky had huge fun with her dress, too, proving sometimes that more is more!

With the body of the dress in Black velvet, look out for DSI’s amazing Twinkle Frill on the voluminous sleeves with satin binding and Heavy Georgette godets on the skirt, which added to the sense of movement on the floor.

Like Nadiya’s dress, DSI’s stoning team really went to town, creating another stunning floral pattern in the suitably “Spanish-style” colours of Light Siam, Sun, Light Rose, Indian Pink and Jet AB stoning.

Finally, Alexandra Burke’s asymmetric cha cha dress was another Latin classic making the most of this season’s must-have fringe! (Don’t miss our November 20% discount!) The Flamenco Crepe creation featured both Flamenco Individual fringe and the extra-special Sequin fringe, as well as stunning Light Siam stoning.
