As Seen on Strictly: Week 4

19th October 2018

After the brilliance of Movie Week, you might think that Vicky Gill and her amazing team would have the chance to put their feet up a bit – but, in fact, Week 4’s costumes on Strictly Come Dancing met with even MORE praise and compliments on social media than ever.

It was a tight competition but, overall, the dress that got the most attention was probably Stacey Dooley’s incredible monochrome mod dress.

The colour scheme was simple but there’s a lot going on with the stylish number, which really captured the 1960s look. A mini under-dress of White Lycra was cleverly embellished with strips of Black PVC (a very trendy fabric this year, as eagle-eyed viewers have noted).

The over-dress in Black Mesh with White Crepe detail gave the whole costume more movement for their foxtrot than a 1960s mini would, but Vicky Gill’s genius was to create two amazing looks in one. The outfit was tied together with a striking belt of White matt-side Satin.

Another very popular dress was Janette Manrara’s exquisite paso doble frock, which is well worth a look close-up.

The bodice in our White Matrix fabric over Tan Mesh features individual white ribbon detail and amazing embellishment by DSI’s Ash in Deep Tanzanite.

So much thought went into that incredible paso skirt, which moved beautifully on the dance floor. It begins in matt-side Tan Satin, followed by White Twinkle with a White Limited Edition laser-cut fabric in stunning layered frills at the bottom, which helped create that all- important movement on the dance floor.

Our third favourite gown this week is Faye Tozer’s stunning dress for the very first rumba on Strictly this year.

DSI London’s head pattern colour Theresa Hewlett says: “Faye’s was the first dress we started and one of the last to be finished.”

With a Tan Mesh asymmetric bodice, this dress is brought to life with the incredible embellishment in Gold and Silver Bugle Beads, Crystal AB and Aurum stoning. The strips in Tan and Silver Georgette are also something special and gave this dress its wonderful movement on the floor.

If you’d like to see Faye’s dress in the process of being created, check out DSI London’s social media channels and, as always, do get in touch to ask anything about the costumes!
