After another epic show on Saturday, Week 2 saw the very first elimination on Strictly Come Dancing 2018.
Sadly, it was time to say a fond farewell to Susannah Constantine and Anton du Beke – we’ll never forget their outstanding samba costumes… but, of course, the show must go on.
One of the most talked about frocks of Week 2 was Oti Mabuse’s stunning yellow dress for the American smooth. As our head pattern cutter, Theresa Hewlett revealed on Twitter, it took a little work to perfect the masterpiece with “a lot of alterations” and “lots of stone unpicking” but we got there in the end, and the result speaks for itself!
The body of the dress was created with Camellia Pleated satin, with a Mellow Satin border. The Citrine AB and Transmission stoning is well worth a closer look, and the gorgeously light skirt is Mellow Pearl chiffon with Mellow Georgette.
Another stunning creation of Vicky Gill’s this week was Amy Dowden’s vibrant green dress for her cha cha cha, which suited her perfectly. Featuring Emerald ruched mesh over the bust, with an Emerald Satin border and waistband, the dress was brought to life with its individual fringing in Emerald, Metallic Hematite and Navy, which offered brilliant layers of colour as Amy danced. The Peridot AB stoning on the body of the dress is exquisite in SS30, SS20 and SS16.
Stacey Dooley’s cha cha cha dress also made striking use of colour with a bodice of Burgundy Riga and Barbados Lycra with a skirt of Burgundy fringe – and an unexpected underlayer of bright Barbados fringe too, which added a flash of colour to Stacey’s movement. The stunning stoning featured Ruby, Indian Pink and Indian Pink AB rhinestones in SS16 and SS20.
Of course, with Movie Week on its way, the DSI London team can’t wait to show you what we’ve been up to on Saturday.
