Strictly Come Dancing returned with a splash on Saturday. The water-themed opening number saw the pros leaping through the fountains at Somerset House.
It was a romantic routine, which needed dreamy dresses to match, and DSI London, led by the amazing Vicky Gill, was happy to oblige as always.
All the ladies looked fabulous in our Sapphire fabrics, with the skirts made of Georgette and Pearl chiffon.
“The bodices were a combination of Lycra, Mesh, Satin and Pleated satin – though not all on each one!” says head pattern cutter, Theresa Hewlett. “The bodice styles were chosen by Vicky to suit each girl’s figure and the over skirts were layers of Soft and Hard net.”
The stunning blue dresses got lots of praise on Twitter, as did Nadiya Bychkova’s, gorgeous green number, with a bodice of DSI Emerald Lace over a Tan Lycra base, which featured truly exquisite stoning in Emerald and Emerald AB.
The circle skirt of Emerald Georgette over Pearl chiffon had beautiful movement in her waltz with Lee Ryan, and the Emerald Mesh shoulder detail and Emerald Satin waistband tied the dress together perfectly.
Like Nadiya, Katya Jones always looks wonderful. On Saturday, she brought sexy back in her sharp navy dress inspired by the Home Secretary in the BBC’s Bodyguard.
The tailored effect was created by a bodice in DSI’s Riga Striped Flock Mesh with a crisp White Satin collar and a Navy Mesh insert showing off Katya’s lovely back. The skirt was cut high and the godets were Navy Georgette with Navy Satin Binding. Embellishments were added at the cuffs and back with bright Bermuda Blue stones.
Kate Silverton brought the party with her cheeky cha cha cha and she needed a vibrant dress to match. The bodice of her dress was bright Hawaiian Pink Mesh over Tan Lycra with Carnival Velvet framing the heavily beaded dress.
The individual Hawaiian Pink, Metallic Hawaiian Pink, Tangerine and Coral Fringing gave the skirt a fuller look and added depth to the movement with stunning stoning in Rose AB and Sun AB.
Theresa revealed on Twitter: “We added extra long hot pink fringe to Kate Silverton’s frock overnight and trimmed to show off her fab pins.”
Kate replied: “You are an utter dream… thank you for making me feel so sassy…”
As always, we’ll be live tweeting Strictly again this week, so don’t forget to follow @DSILondon and Theresa at @t_hewlett and let us know what you think of the costumes!
