Where has the autumn gone? We can’t believe we have just one episode of Strictly left. What are we all going to do with ourselves? But, don’t worry, there’s just about time before the grand finals to look back at last week’s semis.
“Semi-final week was very exciting on all counts,” says a very busy Vicky Gill. “Fantastic performances all round.”
The show opened with a wonderful Charleston from the effervescent Stacey Dooley in a classic silver fringed flapper dress that suited her to a tee. “She was over the moon with her frock,” says Vicky.
Bugle beads on single thread Silver Metallic Fringe on the upper part of the dress then sewn in rows at the hip gave weight to the dress and wonderful movement for the exuberant dance.
“Crystal and Crystal AB rhinestones twinkled on the base for the all-important moments of sparkle,” says Vicky.
Another stunning performance last Saturday was Faye Tozer’s Argentine tango – and she had the perfect frock for the job. “It was very simple but had a fantastic shape for her and the performance,” says Vicky.
The dress was a class act like Faye herself with Navy Mesh over Burgundy with Light Siam AB stoning detail running all the way through.
“It was longer than the normal Argentine tango dress but the central front and back splits allowed for the legwork on the dance,” adds Vicky.
Sadly, last week saw us say a fond farewell to the brilliant Lauren Steadman, who was an unforgettable part of this year’s Strictly with her strength and determination.
Her samba frock was a different take on the traditional approach. “There were no feathers to be found just lots of frills,” laughs Vicky.
The Daisy Gold and Black Sequinned fabric featured Sun AB embellishments, with a Twinkle and Champagne lining for the skirt, which added lots of fun and movement at the hem.
We hope you’ve enjoyed looking at the fab-u-lous costumes on Strictly Come Dancing this year as much as we’ve enjoyed making them.
