As Seen on Strictly: Movie Week
One of the highlights of Strictly Come Dancing every year, Movie Week 2018 was a complete triumph on Saturday with everything from that much-feted Harry Potter opener to dancing Minions!
It’s always a week where costume designer Vicky Gill’s incredible imagination can run wild and this year was no different – which made it very difficult to pick our favourite three dresses.
First up, though, is Oti’s stunning Charleston dress. As Vicky explained on It Takes Two there needs to be synergy between the partners’ costumes and, with Graeme as Spider-Man, Oti’s dress needed to match those iconic colours.
Her dress was created from Ocean Blue Mesh over a bodice and skirt of Flame Red Crepe, and, similarly, the frills on her bodice and skirt were created from Ocean Blue over Flame Red Georgette.
The stunning embellishment in Sapphire rhinestones (S16 and S20) looked wonderful on the floor and the eagle-eyed could appreciate the spider’s web-like detail at the bust. The devil’s in the detail!
Another movie icon that Vicky and team took on this week was none other than glamour puss Jessica Rabbit.
There’s only one fitting colour for this fabulous femme fatale – bright red! For Kate’s slinky foxtrot dress the choice was our luxurious Flamenco Velvet with a Tan Mesh halter-neck to create the famous strapless silhouette of Jessica Rabbit’s iconic gown.
The embellishment on Kate’s dress really needs to be seen close up to be fully appreciated with stoning in Light Siam Oval Jewellery Stones and Light Siam SS20 and S16 over the bust and down the dress, as well as Crystal AB on the Tan Mesh.
Finally, for something a bit different, Janette looked adorable in her Princess Jasmine two-piece for her Aladdin-themed quickstep with Ranj.
Her Hawaiian Pink Crepe crop top was overlaid with Gold Austrian lace with exquisite stoning in Aurum and Fuchsia. The matching harem trousers were in Hawaiian Pink Georgette, with Hawaiian Pink Crepe shorts beneath.
